Located in Chalakkudy Taluk of Thrissur District, within the jurisdiction of the Chalakkudy Block Panchayat, Athirappilly Grama Panchayat is a distinctive hill panchayat where the natural beauty of the Western Ghats blends with rich forest resources and abundant water resources. Spanning an area of approximately 489 square kilometres, the panchayat extends across three villages—Athirappilly, Pariyaram, and Kuttichira. Its landscape is characterized by a remarkable diversity of mountain ranges, hill slopes, valleys, forest areas, rivers, and streams.

To the north, the Panchayat is bordered by protected forest areas and Kodassery Grama Panchayat. To the south, the Chalakudy River forms its boundary. To the east, it shares a border with Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu, while Pariyaram Grama Panchayat lies to the west. In addition, Athirappilly also shares boundaries with Ernakulam and Idukki districts.
