Panchayat

A Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives formed to manage the administrative affairs of Panchayati Raj Institutions, serving as the primary committee in a Village Panchayat (Gram Panchayat) to implement the decisions of the Grama Sabha and oversee day-to-day administration. Its key components include the President, who heads the Panchayat, presides over meetings, and supervises overall activities; the Vice President, who carries out these duties in the President's absence; and Ward Members, who are the elected representatives from each individual ward. Additionally, Standing Committees are formed for sectors like finance, development, welfare, health, and education to facilitate and streamline the Panchayat's decision-making process.
